My Kind of Anniversary Present

A year ago, I was struggling quite a bit with the fact that I didn’t have a wife, or even a girlfriend. On the one hand, I was perfectly happy being able to live my life freely, exactly the way I wanted. No need to bend over backwards to accommodate a woman’s whims and demands. On the other hand, I had to admit that I had needs of my own.

Of course, I can take care of those needs myself, with my own two hands. But somehow, it just doesn’t feel quite right. A man can only have so many intimate conversations with his right hand before he starts wishing for a little more variety.

Then, quite by chance, I met a young university student. She was extremely attractive, had a magnificent figure, and possessed a face that looked as though it had been sculpted by a master.

Unfortunately, she had made a rather spectacular mess of her finances. She was in debt, couldn’t afford her rent, and was struggling to find enough money even to buy food.

Being the kind-hearted gentleman that I am, I offered to help her get back on her feet financially. Naturally, I wasn’t quite the saint I might have appeared to be. We discussed what we both wanted from the arrangement and eventually came to an agreement that suited us both. I won’t bore you with the private details, but let’s just say that neither of us had much reason to complain.

Initially, she wasn’t particularly enthusiastic about the whole idea. But as we got to know each other, things began to work out better and better. We both got what we wanted out of the arrangement.

My emotional struggle over not having a girlfriend practically disappeared, while her financial situation improved considerably. A clear win-win situation, if you ask me.

In fact, I’d say that over the past year, we’ve even become good friends. We were both genuinely happy that we had ended up with this particular arrangement. Sometimes, life has a funny way of solving problems that conventional wisdom insists should be solved in a more conventional manner.

Yesterday was the first anniversary of our initial meeting.

She’s bisexual and is dating another girl. On several occasions, I’d suggested that she bring her girlfriend along when she came to visit me. She’d always refused before, but this time, in honour of our anniversary and as a gesture of gratitude, she surprised me.

They came together.

I have to say, it was like a dream come true.

I can hardly remember many occasions in my life when I’ve been as happy as I was yesterday, sitting on my sofa with a glass of wine in my hand, watching the two of them.

One was vacuuming the carpet while the other was washing the floors.

Now that’s what I call a happy ending.

I can die a happy man!
