When I do rarer household chores, like changing lightbulbs, cleaning dishwasher filters, assembling furniture, etc., I often ask my teenage son to help me. I always say, “You should learn to do these things so you know how to do them when you move out to your own place.” I always get sentimental, thinking that my baby will soon be so big heโll move out. I feel anxious, almost tears in my eyes.
He looks at me with a weird, amused expression. Iโve always thought it means that he finds it funny because I get so emotional.
Today I got a horrible idea. What if it really means that he thinks, โYeah, so you think now that Iโll move out some dayโ?
